Kate McCarthy Bakes

Introducing Kate, the talent and creator behind Kate McCarthy Bakes! Read on to learn about how this incredible baker went from working behind the scenes at one of the provinces top restaurants, to running her own business and starting to work at the newly opened bakery in the city of Saint John.

"I started Kate McCarthy Bakes during the Christmas Season of 2019, but I can easily say things kicked off during social- isolation this year: when locals were supporting locals! Less and less people wanted to go to the grocery store and just like that, I had a mini bakery in my apartment!

I started baking with my nanny at a young age! From there, I took culinary classes at school, worked in the pastry kitchen at the Riverside Golf and Country Club and finally made my way to the Culinary Institute of Canada!

After graduating with my Pastry Certificate from the CIC, I took a summer position in the pastry kitchen at the Algonquin Resort in St. Andrews. Once that summer was over, I worked as the Head Pastry Chef at Italian by Night for just over 3 years!

As of now, my goal is to bring high quality, elegant baked goods and cakes to the city and all its surrounding areas! I can’t thank the Lupine Market enough for bringing me such amazing opportunities this summer, which allowed me to bake for all you amazing support!"
